ROOMS: The Cottage
Built in 1879 this building was the first to grace the property. Col. Hamilton and Mrs. Florence Yancey lived here with their first three children while their dream home was being constructed a few yards away. With eight-foot ceilings, soft-beige walls, and a pleasing world-travel-inspired décor, guests find peace in this simple home. All on the first floor, the cottage’s series of rooms are connected in a square pattern. The bedroom offers an antique, brass, sleigh-style double bed and an oak wardrobe. In the living room are a queen-size futon, a rocking chair, and cable TV. The kitchen features a breakfast table, a large refrigerator, and an electric range and oven, and it’s stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, and cutlery. You can access the rose-colored bathroom through either the kitchen or bedroom. It provides a modern tub with shower and a built-in vanity. The upstairs of the cottage is currently being refinished to provide additional rooms. Check availability for current room rates.
